[SOLVED] Download Manager Not Downloading Files✔

For any reason, an Android download manager may misbehave and stop downloading files. It may display ‘Downloading’ on the Download Manager screen but the file is not downloading instead it keeps loading and wasting your time.

I experienced this on Android version 6 marshmallow and I managed to solve the problem with one of the methods I will be sharing with you today.

DOWNLOAD MANAGER NOT DOWNLOADING FILES

Method 1

CLEAR APP DATA

This method should help by clearing cache data and other data used by the download manager app. To clear app data,

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down and click on Apps
  • Select Download Manager
  • Click on Storage
  • Now Clear cache and Clear data

Try downloading again if it solves the problem.

Method 2

TURN ON STORAGE PERMISSION

I tried this with the Android Lollipop version, it worked perfectly and Download Manager not downloading problem was gone for good.

To do this, follow the below steps…
  • Open Settings
  • Scroll down and click on Apps.
  • Select Download Manager
  • Click on Permissions and Turn ON Storage.

For sure that will help. If not, try using other methods.

Method 3

RESET APP PREFERENCE

If the download manager seizes to work, it could be as a result of wrong settings and to reset app preference is a better idea to put download manager settings back in place.

And to reset app preference,
  • Go to Settings, scroll down and click on Apps
  • Click on Three-Dots located at the top right corner of your screen.
  • Select Reset App Preference

NOTE: Doing this may reset settings on all apps including built-in and third-party apps. To avoid that you should consider Reinstalling download manager updates.
Method 4

REINSTALL UPDATE

I know you must have tried the above methods and if it doesn’t resolve the Download Manager error for sure method 4 will.

Try deleting the current Download Manager, install older versions, Install the same version or install an updated version I believe that will help. Before you install, don’t forget to allow installation from Unknown Sources.
  • Open Settings
  • Scroll down and tap on Security(it might be accompanied with ‘&’. I.e Security & Location or Location & Security or might stand-alone), all the same.
  • After that, scroll down and turn ON Unknown sources

  • Now install the Download manager.
